It is absolutely worth using YNAB in your private practice. I don’t say that just because I’m a YNAB Budget Coach. I’ve been using YNAB to run my professional finances since I started in 2021 and my personal finances since 2018. Understanding the cult following is hard to figure out. With these three tips, I hope I can show you the power YNAB truly has to transform your finances.

      YNAB is a Decision-Making Tool

Using YNAB takes the thinking out of meeting your basic needs, which makes using YNAB in your private practice worth it too. When of the beauties of YNAB being a zero-based budget is that it only allows you to use the money you have in your bank account. By doing this, it brings about self-induced scarcity. We call this being “budget broke”. Your bank account can read thousands of dollars but because you’ve chosen to give that money a certain job your only, you are only left with a few hundred extra dollars to decide with.

YNAB is Worth the Private Practice Spending Wins

The reason why it is worth using YNAB in your private practice is the budgeting wins. My first budgeting win was in grad school. I was a full-time student working part-time in an emergency room as a patient care technician with the goal of paying for my spring semester in full. After a few months of hard work (and a few mental breakdowns) I had 100% confidence I could pay the couple thousand of dollars for the spring semester.

This can be you too. EMDR Training, Enrolling confidently in the IFS lottery (I’m still waiting to get drawn, don’t worry), or may give yourself a Christmas bonus. Whatever you are looking for in your business finances, YNAB can help you get there.
